Malaria is a major public health problem in Nigeria, with stable transmission throughout much of the country and with the largest population at risk in Africa.
The global community aims to achieve universal access to life-saving prevention and treatment measures in Africa to save millions of lives by December 31, 2010. Long-lasting insecticide-treated nets (LLINs) and indoor residual room spraying with insecticides are two very effective prevention methods to knock out deaths due to malaria. Treatment is also an important component. All Africans should have access to safe and effective malaria treatments in the event of a malaria infection.
