Inpired by the work of U2's Bono on AIDS/HIV, Florida High School Senior Allyson Brown was determined to take action on a global health issue of similar scale and impact. Allyson settled on school dances as an inclusive forum through which to raise awareness about malaria and funding for bed nets. Her first dance in 2006 raised over $1,600 and helped inspire her to partner with Malaria No More on a national campaign to engage students, entitled Stayin' Alive.
To date Stayin' Alive has over 200 participating schools in 41 states, in addition to attracting schools from Canada, China, Nigeria, and Ghana.
