On World Malaria Day (April 25th), Melinda's Backups, a community of fans of American Idol contestant and recording artist Melinda Doolittle, once again took to the streets of Nashville for the Country Music Marathon; raising awareness and funds to fight malaria. Last year the Backups's runners and their supporters raised a staggering $9,000 for life-saving mosquito nets, and they show no signs of slowing down. Inspired and humbled by the Backups effort, singer Melinda Doolittle said, "I don't know how to put into words exactly how grateful and honored I am."
