About the Development Intern (Fundraising) – Spring 2010 Position
The Development Intern supports the work of the development (fundraising) department and reports directly to the Director of Development and the Development Officer. The Development Intern will work closely with other members of the development department as well as colleagues across the organization to fulfill his/her role.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct research on prospective donors.
- Provide support on systems management, including gift processing and acknowledgment, and database.
- Create, edit, and/or proofread a broad range of materials about Malaria No More for current and prospective donors.
- Help to organize and maintain departmental files, documents, and procedures.
- Respond to phone calls, online inquiries, and other requests to engage individuals in the mission of Malaria No More.
- Provide support for special events.
- Work with development team on special projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Excellent attention to detail
- Interest in and/or knowledge of fundraising for nonprofit organizations
- Interest in, and knowledge of, international development, public health, or related fields
- Ability to understand technical information related to international development
- Excellent writing and research skills, including report writing
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team and to deal with a changing work environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
- Demonstrated ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
- Excellent computer skills required, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
