About the Marketing Intern -- Spring 2010 Position

Want to get involved in the fight against malaria? Think you have what it takes to join a team of passionate marketers who have created breakthrough marketing campaigns and media events? The Malaria No More marketing team wants to hear from you! We are determined to end malaria deaths and we need your help. Supporting our efforts in fundraising and awareness initiatives, the Marketing Intern will work with the marketing department and will be supervised by the Marketing Associate and Marketing Manager. He/she will work closely with other members of the marketing department as well as colleagues across the organization.

Internship Period:
September--June 2009*
*Shorter terms will be up for consideration

Time Commitment

10-15 hours per week (a minimum of 2 days in the office)

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support the marketing team in managing the grassroots fundraising and awareness efforts at Malaria No More
  • Respond to phone calls, online inquiries, and other requests to support new and existing grassroots partnerships.
  • Provide support on database and list management, including new and potential grassroots partnerships.
  • Help to organize and maintain departmental files, documents, and procedures.
  • Manage formal correspondence with Malaria No More partners.
  • Provide support for marketing events.
  • Work on special projects as needed.

Qualifications

This is an ideal position for an undergraduate student with the following interests and attributes looking for hands-on experience in an exciting field.

  • Interest in marketing, fundraising, and awareness campaigns
  • Interest in grassroots marketing initiatives
  • Interest in marketing, international development, public health, or related fields
  • Ability to think creatively and strategically
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills
  • Ability to assist in handling multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent computer skills, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
