In Africa, a child dies from malaria on average every 30 seconds.
Here are at least 30 ways you can help fight malaria through raising awareness and funds.
- Print out a poster to share with your teacher and class
- Join Malaria No More's Stayin' Alive Dance program. Use a school dance to fundraise for life-saving bed nets!
- Host a bake sale
- Sell homemade "Bednet Certificates" for $10
- Host a garage or book sale
- Establish a pen-pal relationship with someone in Africa
- Host a film screening
- Partner with a local athletic team
- Print the Nets Are Nice (PDF) storybook to read with your mom, dad, brother, or sister
- Host a car wash
- Choose malaria for a class assignment topic
- Host a bike-, run-, walk-, or swim-a-thon
- Ask your teacher if you can display a homemade art project about malaria (poster)
- Dress up like a mosquito and tell people why
- Create a YouTube! video
- Ask your teacher if you can read the Nets Are Nice (PDF) storybook to your class
- Throw a bed net birthday party
- Create a MySpace or Facebook page
- Make T-Shirts
- Host a lemonade stand
- Host an expert (scientist, development worker, etc...)
- Ask your teacher if you can do sidewalk chalk drawings about malaria
- Host a talent show
- Team up with a youth group, dance team, or scout troop
- Purchase a bed net on someone's behalf for their birthday or a holiday
