George W. Bush applauds malaria progress

On the heels of the tremendous news that came out of yesterday’s WHO World Malaria Report, President George W. Bush congratulated the world on making great strides but urged us not to slow down:

"The World Malaria Report released today by the WHO announced huge strides in the global effort to eradicate malaria. Since 2000, more than 3 million lives have been spared from the disease, and the death rate among children has been cut in half. This hopeful progress is due in large part to the generosity and leadership of the American people. Now it's important for our country and the world not to rest, but to build on this momentum. Laura and I congratulate everyone involved with programs such as Malaria No More and the President’s Malaria Initiative, and we thank all those who are working so hard to stop malaria and save even more lives."

- President George W. Bush
