FC Barcelona and MNM Distribute Mosquito Nets in Mali

Building upon our relationship with the world-renowned soccer team FC Barcelona, Malaria No More attended the launch of their XICS Center (International Network of Solidarity Centers) in Bamako, Mali in March 2009. XICS Centers provide outreach to children in the local community by linking sport, education and health. Thanks to funds raised through the More Than A Club: Kick it to Malaria partnership, MNM and FC Barcelona—including FCB President Joan LaPorta and Malian player Seydou Keita—were able to distribute 1,000 mosquito nets to local kids. The Bamako XICS Center will also help to educate the community about the importance of sleeping under nets to protect themselves from malaria.
