Malaria No More is thankful to our team of 25 runners that helped raise awareness and funds to fight malaria leading up to the 2009 ING NYC Marathon on November 1st. This group took on two remarkable goals: to run 26.2 miles through New York City's five boroughs and to raise $205,000 to support our work in Senegal, Africa.
Team members hailed from Paris, London, Seattle, Los Angeles and New York. Impressively, several of our runners crossed the finish line in less than four hours while one runner dribbled a basketball the entire race!
We had several creative fundraisers leading up to the race, including a gourmet brunch hosted by chef and team member Olivier Muller at db Bistro Moderne in NYC and a date auction put on by Nancy Fullman in Seattle.
Last year, our smaller team of nine runners raised $35,000. These committed runners prove that every person can help bring the world one step closer to ending malaria.
