MALARIA NO MORE ANNOUNCES KATE CARR AS NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR & CHIEF DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

New York, NEW YORK - Malaria No More continues to build its team of effective and innovative staff members as the organization works tirelessly toward ending malaria deaths.  Kate Carr joins Malaria No More as Managing Director and Chief Development Officer to build upon the organization's ability to mobilize resources and rally commitments to fight malaria. Her enthusiasm and expertise make her an outstanding addition to the Malaria No More team.

Carr joins Malaria No More with extensive experience in global health and public-private partnerships, honed by more than 12 years in the non-profit arena. As former President and CEO of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, she oversaw a major international expansion and championed their mission of creating a future of hope for children worldwide by eradicating pediatric AIDS, providing care to people with HIV/AIDS, and accelerating the discovery of new treatments for other pediatric illnesses. At Malaria No More, Carr will apply these proven skills to the global effort to end malaria deaths.

"We are extremely fortunate to welcome such a visionary leader in public health to Malaria No More," said Scott Case, CEO of Malaria No More. "Kate brings extraordinary passion and energy to the fight against malaria and will help us build new partnerships and gather new resources to tackle this deadly disease."

Carr will focus on international partnerships and engaging both the public and private sector in the global drive to end malaria deaths. Her signature initiative will be to support Malaria No More's work on the Malaria Capital Campaign, a private-sector initiative to raise $100 million from corporations and other donors. The Campaign is Co-Chaired by Peter Chernin, President and COO of News Corporation and Chairman of Malaria No More and Rex Tillerson, Chairman and CEO of ExxonMobil, and orchestrated by the Global Business Coalition of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, Malaria No More and the UN Foundation. Funds raised through the Campaign will support a portfolio of integrated initiatives that will catalyze achievement of universal access to critical malaria interventions by the end of 2010.

"I am delighted that Kate has joined our team in support of the Malaria Capital Campaign," said Malaria No More Chairman Peter Chernin. "Her experience working with both the business and health communities will be an invaluable benefit to the Campaign and we are grateful to have her on board."

Carr joins Malaria No More from her role as President and CEO of Accelerate Brain Cancer Cure (ABC2), where she worked to hasten the discovery of a cure for brain cancer by applying business principles to solve public health problems. Prior to her seven years at the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, Carr was the Chief Operating Officer for the Welfare to Work Partnership. She also served as a Special Assistant to the President in the Clinton White House (1995-1996), overseeing outreach and partnerships with the business community.

Thanks to extraordinary momentum and an unprecedented global effort, the malaria community has made significant strides to turn the tide against malaria deaths.  However, additional resources are needed to accelerate the delivery of malaria interventions and provide support for the achievement of the community's goals. Carr will focus on cultivating resources in order to maximize every opportunity to save lives.
