During Malaria No More's launch at the White House Malaria Summit, President Bush and First Lady Laura Bush welcomed Malaria No More's participation in the fight against malaria. Malaria No More continues to work closely with the White House and the President's Malaria Initiative to promote broader awareness about the disease, and generate investment in malaria control programs.
On April 24-25th, Fox's American Idol hosted its charity special, "Idol Gives Back." The event raised an astounding $70 million for eight organizations including Malaria No More and our partner Nothing But Nets, demonstrating the public's strong desire to support real solutions to the world's most urgent problems. The show also provided direct acknowledgement of ExxonMobil's matching grant program with Malaria No More.
From its inception, Malaria No More has been both a driver and recipient of the growing media spotlight on malaria, garnering extensive national and local coverage. Understanding the importance of building awareness as a means to generating public engagement, Malaria No More continues to seek out high-visibility media opportunities.
Recognizing the power of celebrity endorsements to capture media attention and mobilize domestic audience support, Malaria No More actively recruits new celebrity spokespeople to bolster its efforts. Malaria No More is committed to turning funding and awareness at home into measurable results in Africa. To this end, Malaria No More has joined forces with key partners to deliver bed nets in Uganda, and has made formal commitments to Malaria control campaigns in Zambia and Madagascar.
