Malaria No More Contribution: 267,000 nets, as well as funding for their distribution, logistics, and social mobilization activities to the Tanga region of Tanzania

Big Picture

In 2008 and 2009, Tanzania is implementing a national campaign to cover every child under 5 with a long lasting insecticide treated net. Working with Tanzania’s National Malaria Control Program, partners Global Fund, World Bank, President’s Malaria Initiative, MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates), World Vision and UNICEF aim to reach 100% coverage of children under five.

Results

As a result of the October LLIN distribution and the following Tanzania Red Cross "hang-up" activities, 100% of households in Tanga have at least one net and 95% of children under five are sleeping under a net.
