Chief Executive Officer
Martin Edlund is a founding member and CEO of Malaria No More. During his tenure at Malaria No More, he has implemented high-profile engagement campaigns leveraging cutting edge mobile, social, and e-commerce platforms as Chief Marketing Officer. He has been instrumental in shaping the narrative of the complex and evolving issue of malaria for leadership audiences across the globe, beginning with his work around the White House Summit on Malaria. Edlund also lived and worked in West Africa as Malaria No More’s Director of New Programs, where he helped launch innovative net distribution and education campaigns with country leadership and local partners in Senegal, Cameroon, and Chad.
Prior to joining MNM, Martin was a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New Republic and Slate, among other publications, and a political consultant in Washington, D.C., specializing in online campaign strategies.
Chief Operating Officer
Diane joined Malaria No More in 2009 bringing more than ten years of management experience. She is a Managing Director in the New York office and has served as the organization’s Chief Operating Officer since 2011. In her role as COO, Diane oversees Human Resources, Finance, and Information Services functions. As a member of the senior management team, Diane participates in the development and implementation of policies, strategy, planning and operational goals and objectives.
Prior to joining Malaria No More, Diane held senior roles in finance, human resources and general management for Princeton Speech-Language & Learning Center, Credit Suisse First Boston and Mabon Securities Corp.
Chief Development Officer
Stevan Miller is the Chief Development Officer and leads, oversees, manages and mentors MNM’s talented development team. Stevan brings the best practices he’s learned from working at organizations like United States Fund for UNICEF, Global Alliance for Vaccinations and Immunizations (GAVI), Make-A-Wish Foundation of America and Children’s Miracle Network, among others. Stevan demonstrated and guides the strategic vision enabling MNM to advance, expand and implement fundraising activities in order to achieve the organization’s strategic goals.
Chief Marketing Officer
As Chief Marketing Officer, Rossanna leads the vision, strategy and execution of Malaria No More’s marketing and communications efforts. She also cultivates partnerships within the business and tech communities, enlisting some of the world’s biggest and most innovative brands to join in the fight against malaria. Rossanna is no stranger to the board room, coming from a career as a global marketing executive and digital pioneer for some of the most successful names in entertainment, beauty and fashion – including The Walt Disney Co., Warner Bros. and The Estee Lauder Companies. She’s used her strong background in business to advise tech start-ups and consult for venture capital firms, but a drive to make a positive social impact led her away from the corporate world and into the realm of advocacy and global health. Rossanna’s appetite for great food, adventure and travel has taken her to more than 40 countries.
Managing Director of Global Policy and Advocacy
Joshua Blumenfeld is the Managing Director of Global Policy and Advocacy, leading the Washington, D.C. office. Josh engages with the Congress, the Administration, foreign governments, and public and private global partners to advance malaria elimination. Previously, he served in the Obama Administration as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Senate Affairs under Secretaries Clinton and Kerry. He also served as Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Chris Dodd. Josh holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, an MA in International History from the London School of Economics, and a BA in History and Political Science from the University of Rochester.
Managing Director, Africa Programs
Mark is currently the Senior Director of Program Investment Operations where he is responsible for supporting Malaria No More’s high impact malaria control programs in Africa. Prior to waging war against mosquitoes, Mark has donned a collection of titles including management consultant, Peace Corps Volunteer, grad student and banker. Fortunately, he has finally found his way and spends his free time planning for his retirement in the next five years when malaria becomes no more.
Jennifer Wilson Zary
Director of Development
Jennifer Wilson Zary, Director, Grants & Foundation Relations, manages institutional donor relations and grant reporting at Malaria No More. Prior to joining the team, she worked as a Partner Relations Manager at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI), where she managed a broad donor portfolio focused on global health issues. Previously, Jennifer worked for the State Department and in strategy consulting with Bain & Company. She received a Bachelor’s in History from Brown University and an MPhil in International Relations from the University of Cambridge.
Director of Major Gifts
Sarah Brown is the Director of Major Gifts at Malaria No More and leads all activities on the West Coast. Prior to joining the organization, Sarah was president of SBAinc, a fund development and management consulting firm that worked with clients whose missions focused on education reform, conservation, advocacy for health-related issues, civil liberties and underserved communities. She also worked as Director of Development for Communities for Teaching Excellence and served as an Executive Director at CCS Fundraising. Sarah began her career in development at her alma mater, the University of California at Los Angeles.
Sarah splits her time between Los Angeles and San Francisco and sits on committees for organizations including Communities In Schools and Conservation International.
Development Associate, Lianne joined Malaria No more in spring 2012. She assists the development team in donor outreach, strategy and management, as well overseeing all database needs for the organization. Prior to joining the team, Lianne worked at Right To Play USA where she worked in a development capacity. Originally from California, Lianne moved to New York after graduating from the University of San Diego with a degree in International Relations.
Kelly Fleming, Development Associate at Malaria No More, assists the development team in donor outreach, strategy and management, as well overseeing all database needs for the organization. Prior to joining the team, Kelly attended The College of Saint Rose in Albany, where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Childhood Education and picked up a strong interest in African studies during her time there.
Michelle Keith, Marketing Director at Malaria No More, spends her days working to elevate the MNM brand through producing creative content and building agency and cause-marketing partnerships. Prior to joining the fight against malaria, Michelle worked at the advertising firm Bartle Bogle Hegarty (BBH), where she managed brands like Axe, British Airways, the City of New York and fought against bad men's grooming techniques and terrible airline service. Michelle holds a Bachelor's degree in Commerce and Spanish Language from the University of Virginia. Michelle loves kids, travelling, hot sauce, and an unapologetic slow clap.
As Communications Director, Saadia guides Malaria No More’s media relations and communications strategy. Saadia joined MNM from Bloomberg News, where she worked as a television reporter and producer, covering financial news stories for stations across the country and internationally. Her journalism career has turned her into an expert packer – taking her from Miami to D.C. to Oregon before she landed in the Big Apple. In addition to her experience in news, Saadia served as Communications Director for Economic Fairness Oregon, where she helped pass key consumer protection laws in the wake of the financial crisis. When she’s not at the office, Saadia loves eating her way through new cities, testing out cookie recipes in her tiny kitchen and commissioning adorable dog sweatshirts - she and her husband are proud parents to Betsy, the world’s most photogenic Boston Terrier.
Erica Lichtenberger Vogel
Erica Lichtenberger Vogel, Communications Manager at Malaria No More, focuses on fighting malaria and engaging press, partners and the public in spreading the word and raising awareness of the disease. Prior to joining the team, she worked at Porter Novelli where she represented Band-Aid, Mercedes, Timberland and many other consumer brands. While at the public relations agency, Erica also co-founded Jack + Bill, the award winning pop-up PR agency. Erica's passion for international health was sparked when she taught HIV/AIDS awareness classes in Tanzania. With southern roots in Houston, Texas, she enjoys traveling, reading, running and blogging on Buzzwords!
As the Digital Strategist for Malaria No More, Josh is responsible for everything that does not take place in the “real world”. As the keeper of all things web and social media, Josh is true believer in the concept of technology for good, and is busy rallying the online world to the global mission to end deaths from malaria. Josh joins Malaria No More after four years of experience working on the Interactive Strategies for the Case Foundation, the charitable foundation of former AOL executives Jean and Steve Case. Josh is a diehard bills fan, despite the fact that they are quite possibly the worst team in the NFL, for 13 straight years.
Director of Policy & Advocacy
Hannah is the Director of Policy & Advocacy in Malaria No More’s Washington, D.C. office, where she focuses on strengthening global partnerships and securing the funding and political will necessary to succeed in the fight against malaria. She also serves as a link between MNM’s DC office and program investments team, building on two years managing research and impact evaluation across MNM’s Africa programs. She previously worked as a Project Manager for Africa at InterMedia in Washington, D.C. and Nairobi, overseeing research projects about media and communication in fourteen African countries for clients in the public and nonprofit sectors. Hannah received a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Yale and a Master’s in Public Administration in International Development from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government. In between, she was a project manager in California's wine country and a Peace Corps volunteer in rural Ghana.
Program Officer, Special Projects
As a Program Officer on the Africa Programs team, Trish manages projects related to Malaria No More’s health communications and commodity interventions across Africa. Prior to joining Malaria No More, Trish worked with sister organization Millennium Promise. She received her BA in Anthropology from the American University in Washington, D.C. with a focus on social justice issues. Hailing from Massachusetts, Trish enjoys shredding the gnar and is known to bike to work all the way from Brooklyn. Cue applause.
Impact Program Officer
Jeff Doyle is a Program Officer at Malaria No More, working on the organization's investments in Africa. His work primarily focuses on malaria diagnostics and treatment, in addition to supporting in-country staff. Prior to joining MNM, Jeff studied international development at the University of Virginia and worked with a number of health and education nonprofits focusing on health and education.
As the Program Associate, Sarah supports Malaria No More’s interventions across Africa. Prior to joining MNM, Sarah served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda for three years, working primarily on secondary education and girls’ empowerment. During her third year with the Peace Corps, she had the opportunity to work for the Nike Foundation and DFID’s Girl Hub Rwanda, focused primarily on post-2015 development research and advocacy. She received a BA in International Studies, with a concentration in international development, and French from Johns Hopkins University.
Human Resources Manager
Irene Newman, Human Resources Manager, services the people-side of Malaria No More with overall delivery of HR Services. Prior to joining the team, she worked in several industries in management: airline, financial, retail, and nonprofit. In her spare time, she volunteers at a community college to work alongside students of different cultures helping them with their resume writing, interviewing skills and finding prospective jobs. Irene received her Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Hunter College of The City University of New York.
Kevin is Staff Accountant at Malaria No More working in the accounting/financing department. His work focuses on day-to-day operations, including maintaining the company’s general ledger, preparing financial statements, working on special projects as requested and more. Kevin received a Bachelor’s of Business Administration in Accounting from Baruch College. And is a proud New Yorker, who spends his winters snowboarding and his summers biking around the city.
Liza Rosa is the Administrative Assistant at Malaria No More. She supports the organization on a variety of administrative projects. Before joining MNM, she was formerly part of our sister organization, Millennium Promise and was part of Sista II Sista, a non-profit organization dedicated to ending violence against women. While volunteering and working at Sista II Sista, she developed a keen interest in non-profit organizations and began her career in the non-profit sector. She is devoted to helping people and creating a change in society.
