Washington, DC, July 23, 2025 – Malaria No More CEO Martin Edlund issued the following statement upon the House Appropriations Committee’s approval of the FY26 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs Subcommittee (NSRP) bill:

Malaria No More is grateful to Chairman Cole, Ranking Member DeLauro, Chairman Diaz-Balart, and Ranking Member Frankel for including $800 million for the U.S. President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) in the FY26 National Security, Department of State, and Related Programs bill, which was approved by the House Appropriations Committee today.

This strong show of bipartisan support sends a clear message: the fight against malaria remains a critical and strategic US priority. As PMI shifts its operations to the State Department, we’re equally encouraged that the administration continues to prioritize the fight against malaria, delivering life-saving nets, treatment, and spraying campaigns right now across Africa.

The House’s commitment to PMI, alongside $1.5 billion for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and $300 million for Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, has the potential to save millions of lives, unlock trade and economic opportunities, and strengthen health systems across Africa.

We urge the House to approve this bill and the Senate to follow suit in fully funding these life-saving programs.
