Martin Edlund

Chief Executive Officer

Martin Edlund is a founding member and CEO of Malaria No More. During his tenure at Malaria No More, he has implemented high-profile engagement campaigns leveraging cutting edge mobile, social, and e-commerce platforms as Chief Marketing Officer. He has been instrumental in shaping the narrative of the complex and evolving issue of malaria for leadership audiences across the globe, beginning with his work around the White House Summit on Malaria. Edlund also lived and worked in West Africa as Malaria No More’s Director of New Programs, where he helped launch innovative net distribution and education campaigns with country leadership and local partners in Senegal, Cameroon, and Chad.

Prior to joining MNM, Martin was a journalist for The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The New Republic and Slate, among other publications, and a political consultant in Washington, D.C., specializing in online campaign strategies.

Joshua Blumenfeld

Managing Director

Joshua Blumenfeld is the Managing Director of Malaria No More, where he leads a global advocacy team in engaging with governments, multilateral institutions, as well as U.S. and internationally based public and private partners to advance malaria elimination.

Previously, Josh served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Senate Affairs, where he advised Secretaries Clinton and Kerry, as well as other senior department leadership on advancing the administration’s foreign policy, national security, and development priorities in Congress.  He also successfully guided nearly 100 Presidential nominees through the Senate confirmation process, including Secretary Kerry.  While at the State Department, Josh also served as the Acting Director of the Quadrennial Diplomacy and Development Review, where he helped launch the 2014 strategic policy and management review of the Department.

Prior to joining the Obama administration, Josh worked in the United States Senate as Senior Foreign Policy Advisor to Senator Chris Dodd. In the Senate, Josh worked on a host of foreign policy, national security and development issues including human rights, security assistance, global health and international trade. Josh also planned and directed the activities of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on the Western Hemisphere.

Josh holds a JD from the Georgetown University Law Center, an MA from the London School of Economics, and a BA from the University of Rochester.  He is also an Adjunct Professor at the University of Pennsylvania.

Lianne Pimentel

Events and Special Projects Officer

Development Associate, Lianne joined Malaria No more in spring 2012. She assists the development team in donor outreach, strategy and management, as well overseeing all database needs for the organization. Prior to joining the team, Lianne worked at Right To Play USA where she worked in a development capacity. Originally from California, Lianne moved to New York after graduating from the University of San Diego with a degree in International Relations.

Kelly Fleming

Development Associate

Kelly Fleming, Development Associate at Malaria No More, assists the development team in donor outreach, strategy and management, as well overseeing all database needs for the organization. Prior to joining the team, Kelly attended The College of Saint Rose in Albany, where she obtained her Bachelor’s in Childhood Education and picked up a strong interest in African studies during her time there.

Erica Lichtenberger Vogel

Communications Manager

Erica Lichtenberger Vogel, Communications Manager at Malaria No More, focuses on fighting malaria and engaging press, partners and the public in spreading the word and raising awareness of the disease. Prior to joining the team, she worked at Porter Novelli where she represented Band-Aid, Mercedes, Timberland and many other consumer brands. While at the public relations agency, Erica also co-founded Jack + Bill, the award winning pop-up PR agency. Erica's passion for international health was sparked when she taught HIV/AIDS awareness classes in Tanzania. With southern roots in Houston, Texas, she enjoys traveling, reading, running and blogging on Buzzwords!

Kara Leene

Policy and Advocacy Manager

As the Policy and Advocacy Manager in the Washington office, Kara helps shape domestic and global malaria public policy by building relations and partnerships among international advocacy organizations, federal agencies and the private sector. She also oversees the execution of all major events, such as briefings with the Congressional Caucuses on Malaria and Neglected Tropical Diseases, broader government briefings, and staff and Congressional Delegations. Prior to joining MNM, she spent over 5 years on Capitol Hill working for Senator Patrick Leahy, most recently as a Legislative Assistant on health, education and nutrition. Kara received a Masters of Public Policy in Social and Health Policy from George Mason University, and holds a BA from Colgate University in Hamilton, NY.

Jeff Doyle

Impact Program Officer

Jeff Doyle is a Program Officer at Malaria No More, working on the organization's investments in Africa. His work primarily focuses on malaria diagnostics and treatment, in addition to supporting in-country staff. Prior to joining MNM, Jeff studied international development at the University of Virginia and worked with a number of health and education nonprofits focusing on health and education.

Sarah Doyle

Africa Programs and Research Manager

As the Africa Programs and Research Manager for Malaria No More, Sarah oversees investments and quantitative/qualitative research within Africa, primarily Chad, Cameroon, Nigeria, and Kenya. Prior to joining MNM, Sarah served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Rwanda for three years, working primarily on secondary education and girls’ empowerment. During her third year with the Peace Corps, she had the opportunity to work for the Nike Foundation and DFID’s Girl Hub Rwanda, focused primarily on post-2015 development research and advocacy. She received BA’s in International Studies and French, with a concentration in international development, from Johns Hopkins University.

Dena Gudaitis

Global Communications Manager

Dena has spent over 12 years learning and applying visual media, technical and story-telling skills to multi-faceted communications and media projects. She began her career in New York as a Multimedia Producer for ABC News’ Digital Media Group where she primarily produced lifestyle and political content. After nearly five years in the media industry, Dena transitioned into the international development field by working at several high-profile organizations including FHI 360 and the UN World Food Programme (WFP). She has also lived abroad in East Africa and has traveled extensively to over 25 countries. Dena earned degrees in International Broadcast Journalism & Public Affairs (M.A.) and Multimedia Design & Development (B.S) from American University in Washington, D.C.
